In
1968, Barker’s began as a furniture refinishing
shop on Government Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Within a few years we had evolved into a small
antique store specializing in American country furniture
and accessories, with just a few pieces of antique
jewelry.
!n
1976 Barker’s relocated to our current location.
Jefferson Highway was a two lane road “in the
country” and we had the best of all worlds, as
our home was just a few feet away from the shop. We
both worked in the business, yet could be with
our two children - and we even had a horse in
the back yard!
It
didn’t take long to decide that antique jewelry
had become the major emphasis of the business
and so, in a very little while, we became
Barker’s Antique Jewelry, Inc. We specialized
then, as now, in antique and period jewelry of
the Victorian, Art Nouveau, Edwardian and Art
Deco periods.
Barker’s
is one of the very few Antique Jewelry stores
to be selected for membership in the American
Gem Society. Our staff, representing 85
years of jewelry experience, includes a GIA Graduate
Gemologist and Certified Gemologist Appraiser.
Our Certified Gem Lab assures our customers of the
latest in testing and identification techniques
. We are also members of Jewelers of America,
Jewelers Vigilance Committee and the Greater
Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce.
The
pieces you see on our web site represent a small
portion of our ever changing inventory and, since
it is difficult to shop ”online” for fine
antique jewelry, we hope you will see fit
to visit our store. We promise it will be worth
your time!

Our
shop hours are:
Tuesday through Friday, 10:00-5:00
Saturday, 10:00-3:00
